CLIK Magazine accuses Atlanta Pride Committee of being racists

Untitled Document

CLIK Magazine accuses Atlanta Pride Committee of being racists. When presented with a sponsorship offer from CLICK Magazine, Donna Narducci, Executive Director, responded, thanks but no thanks, but hey, buy a booth. CLICK responded with THIS letter copied to the public accusing the APC of not caring about Black People (insert Kanye West Here) . By midday, APC's office was inundated with emails and phone calls from angry community members demanding answers. In her response, Ms. Narducci explained why the offer was rejected and offered an olive branch to CLIK to help cool the waters.

My Assessment: Given the pure lack of details provided in the letter that rapidly circulated the internet, I could not immediately jump to any conclusion. The two letters speak for themselves if you read between the lines so I will leave you to be the judge. I will say this though. I challenge every person who wants to send a message about this matter to send at least $5.00 to your local Black Pride organization to assist them with the difficult task they face each year in raising funds. These organizations receive a fraction of the corporate sponsorship dollars and even less community donor support than their white counterparts, yet still manage to pull off their annual celebrations on shoe string budgets. In Kind sponsorships are great, but they rarely do much to pay the bills at the end of the day. It is so refreshing to read an email, blog, letter, viewpoint, commentary and/or opinion thats plain, simple and keeps it real. Most of us get one side of a story, and it's usually the popular one and not the right one. We often comment, and place our $.39 in with out checking out all the avenues and in all our getting we often dont get an understanding.
